Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos stated on late Wednesday. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the boxing community shared condolences for the champion in the following the terrible crash.
