Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
